Excellent question! I began my coaching journey in high school where I became an influencer for many sports teams and student functions. I realized in college I had a knack for helping others. I started officially coaching when I became a school administrator and found I loved it! I studied under John C. Maxwell (a book mentor at the time) and put into practice anything that global leader said to do.
About 15 years ago I started my full-time coaching and speaking practice, mostly within the education and small business fields. I have several higher degrees such as a BS in Elementary Education (taught me how to teach) and MA in Early Childhood Education (taught me the value of a developmental approach), an MA is Psychology (taught me about the brain and mind), and a PhD in Education with an emphasis on Assessment, Evaluation, and Accountability. (I know, I know, it sounds really boring!) This means I can help individuals, groups, and systems through change. My dissertation research was on the effect of coaching in EC environments; hint- it matters! Also, as I was doing all these fun things, I trained under John C. Maxwell (a real-life mentor for me now) on how to be a better leader AND I even put those things into practice with my 3 kids, and it worked!
I can almost hear someone right now, “Ok, this girl’s probably read a lot of books and knows a lot of things, but can she actually DO the work?!?” Valid point and everyone should ask that question of anyone they’re thinking of learning from. I could tell you, yes, I do, but would you believe me? Currently, I have clients in 7 different times zones, 11 countries, and several different fields. I have coaching groups focused on helping others grow their leadership, build their small business, grow in their personal lives and in relationships, and go much deeper into their coaching practice.
